Resource Management Overview
Learn how to track equipment, vehicles, and assets, and manage their maintenance lifecycles.
What is Resource Management?
The Resource Management module in Algus acts as a digital registry for your organization's physical assets.
A Resource can be anything your organization needs to track, inspect, or maintain:
- Heavy Machinery (e.g., Forklifts, Excavators)
- Vehicles (e.g., Delivery Trucks, Company Cars)
- Facilities (e.g., Warehouses, Production Lines, Meeting Rooms)
- Equipment (e.g., Fire Extinguishers, HVAC Units)
- IT Assets (e.g., Laptops, Servers)
Key Capabilities
By registering your assets in Algus, you unlock several powerful capabilities:
- Centralized Database: Maintain a single source of truth for all equipment details, primary images, site locations, and custom attributes.
- Linked Inspections & Tasks: Automatically associate inspections and tasks directly to the resource to build a history of its condition over time.
- Meter & Usage Readings: Track usage (e.g., odometer, engine hours) via manual entry or visual charts.
- Preventative Maintenance Programs: Automate schedules based on time intervals (e.g., calendar days) or meter reading thresholds (e.g., usage).
- QR Code Identification: Print and attach custom QR codes to physical assets. Scanning a code instantly pulls up the resource's details and lets you log a new task or inspection.
The Value of Connected Data
The true power of the Resource module is its connection to the rest of the platform.
Instead of an inspection report simply stating "Forklift #12 has a broken light," that report is permanently linked to the digital file for Forklift #12. When a manager later reviews the file for Forklift #12, they see that inspection, the resulting task to fix the light, all previous maintenance records, and its current odometer reading, all in one place.
⚙️ Customizing the Resource List View (Web Portal)
When viewing your registered assets in the Web Portal, you can switch between List and Grid views. In List View, you can customize which columns are visible in the table to display the most relevant information:
- Click the Column Settings (sliders) icon at the top right of the resources table.
- A dropdown popover will open listing all available columns. This includes standard fields (like Site, Created Date, Modified Date, Last Inspection Date, and Tasks Count) as well as any dynamic custom fields created for your resource types.
- Toggle the checkbox next to each column to show or hide it in the table view.
- Your customized column visibility selections are saved to your profile and will be remembered the next time you log in.
