Starting Inspections
Learn how to initiate an inspection across the Web Application and Mobile App.
Overview of Starting Inspections
In Algus, inspections can be launched through distinct workflows depending on whether you are working in the Web Application or using the Mobile App.
Starting Inspections on the Web Application
1. From the Templates List (3-Dots Options Menu)
Ad-hoc inspections can be started directly from the master template catalog on the web application:
- Navigate to Templates in the main sidebar menu.
- Locate the desired template in the template list.
- Click the Options menu (three dots) next to the template name.
- Select Start Inspection to immediately launch a new inspection form.
2. Scheduled Inspections (My Inspections Tab)
Recurring inspections configured via Schedules generate automatically when their active time slot opens:
- Navigate to Inspections in the main sidebar menu and select the My Inspections tab.
- When the active time slot arrives, the scheduled audit automatically appears in your list with a Not Started status.
- Click on the scheduled inspection item to open the form pre-filled with the assigned template, site, and resource details.
3. Email Invitations (Guest & External Access)
Inspections requested from external contractors or guest users via Inspection Invitations are started directly from email:
- The recipient receives an invitation email containing a secure direct web link.
- Clicking the email link automatically opens the web inspection form in their browser without requiring an Algus account.
- The guest inspector completes the questions and submits the audit directly.
4. Template QR Code Scanning (Browser)
Physical locations equipped with Template QR Codes allow instant audit launching:
- Point any smartphone or tablet camera at the printed physical QR code.
- Tap the scanned URL link that appears on screen.
- The browser automatically opens the web inspection form pre-configured with the designated template, language, and site assignment.
Real-World Operational Scenario
Scenario: Field Inspection via QR Code Scanning
- Context: A maintenance engineer arrives at Generator Room #4 to conduct a scheduled bi-weekly generator check.
- Workflow:
- The engineer points their mobile device camera at the physical QR code mounted on Generator Room #4's door.
- Scanning the QR code automatically opens the browser and launches the pre-configured Generator Pre-Start Checklist template assigned to Site Alpha.
- The form pre-fills the site and asset data, enabling the engineer to start filling out questions immediately without searching through menus.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Can I start multiple draft inspections at the same time?
Yes. Tapping "Start Inspection" creates a new independent draft session each time, allowing you to hold multiple active drafts concurrently under My Inspections.
